A shipment of Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards of a value of about ₹4 crore has been missing at a major airport in Brazil, leaving an electronics distributor in search of answers. The shortage of two pallets of Zotac RTX 5090 graphics cards that were expected to arrive at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport (see details in the documents).
Brazilian distributor Oderço said the shipment worth about 2.5 million Brazilian reais (about $470,000) could not be found after it reached the airport. The company has made public inquiries about the missing hardware as a matter of concern, and in particular security of high-value technology shipments is raised.
The incident was reported by international technology publications on October 18 and 19, 2026.
Where is Nvidia RTX 5090 now?
According to reports, Oderço was expecting two pallets with Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards at Guarulhos International Airport. The shipment was not found, the company said.
Oderço president Oderço Matos took the matter to social media on October 16, seeking answers about the cargo. The company said it had not experienced a similar situation during its more than 38 years of operations.
The distributor’s valuation of R$2.5 million is the cost of the shipment. Some headlines have mentioned higher potential retail values because RTX 5090 cards sell for considerably more in the Brazilian market.
However, the exact number of missing graphics cards has not been officially confirmed and the arrival date and detailed tracking information have not been publicly disclosed.
Why is the Nvidia RTX 5090 so valuable?
The GeForce RTX 5090 is Nvidia’s best-known consumer graphics card, its flagship graphics card based on its Blackwell architecture. It features 32GB of GDDR7 memory and has been designed for demanding gaming, content creation and artificial intelligence (AI) tasks.
It is powerful hardware that appeals to enthusiasts, professional creators and users working with computationally intensive applications.
High prices and reported supply constraints have also made RTX 5090 a sought-after product. Retail prices of individual cards can reach tens of thousands of reais, depending on the manufacturer and configuration in Brazil.
Sales of such graphics cards are very profitable to distributors and retailers because of the high unit prices and strong demand.
Airport Authorities and Investigation
The disappearance has raised questions about cargo handling and security at Guarulhos International Airport, one of Brazil's busiest aviation hubs.
The airport operator, GRU Airport, had informed the relevant authorities, reported on October 19, it said, and was working with the importer to resolve the problem. The operator also outlined an indemnification process that would need to be approved and reviewed by the relevant authorities, the report said.
Brazilian Federal Police and other relevant authorities might be involved in investigating the missing cargo. But the available reports do not specify exactly how the shipment disappeared or who is responsible.
Importantly, this is not yet a theft. A cargo handling investigation needs to determine whether the shipment was stolen, misplaced or lost.
What happens next?
Oderço is seeking answers and the recovery of the missing graphics cards, and the airport operator's response and any investigation findings will be important in clarifying the case.
The incident highlights the challenges in shipping expensive electronics across international supply chains. Until authorities determine what happened, the fate of the RTX 5090 shipment is not yet clear.
For technology distributors, the case is also a reminder that cargo tracking, documentation, insurance and clear accountability are required when high-value goods travel through huge logistics hubs.
