Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has said the state is working towards becoming one of the most attractive destinations for global investment with a long-term strategy of economic growth, infrastructure development, industrial development and employment generation.
Revanth Reddy spoke at a global summit organised by the SAMAKHYA Chamber of Commerce in Hyderabad on Thursday, October 14, 2026 and said the government is working towards the ambitious Telangana Rising Vision 2047. The government wants to grow Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047, according to ANI.
The plan is to strengthen the state's economic base by drawing in domestic and international businesses and developing various regions according to their economic potential. CURE, PURE and RARE are three development strategies to be developed by the government for this transformation.
The Chief Minister’s investment pitch comes in the context of states all over India competing with each other for international companies, manufacturing facilities, technology companies and international capital.
Telangana is also interested in building on Hyderabad’s existing presence in information technology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, financial services and other knowledge-based sectors. The state government’s investment portal offers a list of all the advantages when companies are looking to expand: a well-known technology ecosystem (with a high level of expertise and an educated workforce) and a world-class industrial base.
Hyderabad is also a location for global companies to establish technology centres, corporate offices and research facilities and to establish aerospace and defence, electric mobility, semiconductors, data centres, green energy and advanced manufacturing. It will use these opportunities to attract further investment and grow the economy beyond the usual industry clusters. But in the coming years, achieving the economic targets will require investment, growth of business, infrastructure and employment growth.
A key component of Telangana Rising Vision 2047 is the proposed CURE, PURE and RARE regional development model. CURE, or Core Urban Region Economy, focuses on Hyderabad and the high-value services, technology, innovation and other economic activities in the city. PURE, or Peri-Urban Region Economy, is designed to promote manufacturing, industrial corridors and production infrastructure in the areas surrounding the core urban region.
RARE is the Rural and Agricultural Region Economy and is based on agriculture, food systems and rural production. Through this approach, the government will establish an economic ecosystem more sustainable with no specialisation on Hyderabad.
The strategy aims to connect the state’s urban centres with industrial areas and rural communities, providing business opportunities to businesses and expanding the reach of economic development. Cohesive planning, transportation and utilities, skills availability and successful implementation of projects in the three regions will be key to the success of the project.
The state is also focusing on infrastructure and a business-friendly environment as factors to attract foreign companies. In previous meetings with industry leaders, Revanth Reddy has promised government support to investors, quicker approvals and policy stability to overcome such delays in business operations.
Telangana’s investment promotion platform also points to road connectivity, airport accessibility, technology talent and existing industrial ecosystem as advantages for businesses. For international investors, these could have an impact on the locations of offices, manufacturing units, research centres and global capability centres.
At the same time, companies consider a wider range of factors such as operating costs, regulatory clarity, workforce availability, land access, power supply and long-term market potential. Continuous implementation of investment policy and timely completion of infrastructure projects will be very important if the state wants to convert investment ambitions into enterprise in the future.
Telangana has also been pursuing investment opportunities through business and foreign companies. In July 2026, an international delegation to the Green Growth Economic Summit met the Chief Minister to discuss infrastructure development, artificial intelligence and sustainability and future investment opportunities.
In the state, life sciences, technology and data centres have also been promoted. In July, the government announced the launch of an Amazon data centre at Bharat Future City in Ranga Reddy district and invited the company to invest in Telangana through 2034. These are the sectors and projects that the government would like to see in the future to support the expansion of the state's economy.
Nevertheless, investment proposals, invitations and discussions should be distinguished from funds actually deployed and facilities that have become operational. The ultimate impact of such initiatives will be measured in terms of completed projects, new business activity, job creation and the economic benefits offered to communities throughout the state.
The Chief Minister’s recent comments underline the government’s desire to establish Telangana as a major hub for international capital and innovation. The $1 trillion economy target for 2034 and $3 trillion by 2047 are certainly ambitious targets for the Telangana Rising vision.
To achieve them, we will need to keep growing technology, manufacturing, services, infrastructure, agriculture and other sectors and education and workforce skills to be educated and trained and to make the best use of those skills. The CURE, PURE and RARE framework is designed to link urban innovation to industrial development and rural economic activity and potentially to make the benefits of growth in the state even more attractive to companies that are looking to invest in India.
The challenge for the government now is to translate these ambitions into tangible results to be achieved: the investment made, the competitive business environment and sustainable employment. If Telangana is to make the investment pitch, the implementation of its development strategy will be critical to determine whether the long-term economic vision is achieved.
