The incident took place at the office after it closed on Tuesday night, according to The New Indian Express. Staff members discovered the damage when they arrived at the office on Wednesday morning, a staff member said.

Congress Office Attacked During Late-Night Incident

The attack was not limited to the DCC office. Reports said the Congress Anavoor Mandalam Committee office was also targeted late Tuesday night.

According to Kerala Kaumudi, the Anavoor office at Paliyode Junction in Neyyattinkara was also set on fire. The building and flex boards that were installed outside the office were damaged, and locals intervened and extinguished the fire.

The identities and motives of those responsible for the attacks had not been established in the reports. Police were investigating the incidents.

Senior Congress leaders visit DCC Office

After the attack, Kerala Home Minister and senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala visited the Thiruvananthapuram DCC office and reviewed the situation.

Chennithala said political workers could hold protests but violence should not be allowed. Attacks on political party offices would not be allowed in a democratic system and action should be taken against those responsible, he said.

KPCC president Sunny Joseph also visited the office following the incident. The DCC decided to organise a protest against the attacks.

All this is related to political tension.

The attack came at a time of political tension in Thiruvananthapuram after protests between Congress and BJP workers. Kerala Kaumudi reported that Youth Congress workers had staged black-flag protests against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while BJP workers were also staging protests against Congress leaders in various parts of Kerala.

However, no such finding was confirmed in the official reports into who carried out the attack on the DCC office. Any allegation of the identity or political affiliation of the attackers should therefore be treated as unverified until investigators establish the facts.

When Did the incident occur?

The stone-pelting at the Thiruvananthapuram DCC office occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, September 30, 2026, and the damage was discovered when staff arrived in the morning. The Anavoor Mandalam Committee office was attacked after 11 pm on Tuesday, September 29.
