The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced a new recruitment drive for ITI, Diploma and Graduate Apprentice positions at its Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL) in New Delhi. It offers an excellent way to get hands on industrial experience with a 12-month apprenticeship programme.
This means that eligible candidates may submit offline applications before 21 August 2026.
Apprenticeship opportunity at DRDO SSPL
The apprenticeship programme is intended for the practical training of new ITI certificate holders, diploma holders, and graduates in different skills. The selected candidates will receive a one-year apprenticeship with a monthly stipend as per the Government of India apprenticeship rules.
Vacancy Details
As per the official notification:
- Diploma Apprentice: 41 vacancies
- Graduate Apprentice: Vacancies will be filled based on organisational requirements.
- ITI Apprentice: Vacancies will also be filled according to the laboratory's operational needs.

Candidates should have:
Passed Class 10 (SSLC/Matriculation)
ITI certificate with First Class in any of the following trades: Fitter, Electronics Mechanic, Electrician, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA), Machinist, Carpenter. Diploma Apprentice
Applicants should have a First Class Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognised institution.
Graduate Apprentice
Candidates must have a First Class Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject or engineering stream from a recognised university.

Training Duration
Duration: 12 Months
The apprenticeship is to provide practical experience in defence research and advanced technology for the prospects to enhance their technical and employability skills and work experience.
Monthly Stipend
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend according to the Apprentices Act and Government of India guidelines. The exact stipend amount will be applicable according to the category of apprenticeship.
