RBI has announced a recruitment opportunity for pharmacy professionals for 22 Pharmacist vacancies in the Mumbai Regional Office. Recruitment of eligible candidates will take place in the dispensaries of the central bank in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai on a contractual basis.
All prospective applications must be made by November 3, 2026, by 5 pm. The engagement has a fixed wage of ₹600 per hour and a maximum of ₹3,000 per day. Candidates should read eligibility criteria, documents, and application process of the application form to make the application.
According to recruitment details reported for RBI Pharmacist Recruitment 2026, all 22 vacancies are for Pharmacist positions on a contract basis. The category-wise distribution includes 13 for the Unreserved category, five for Other Backwards Classes (OBC), two for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), one for Scheduled Castes (SC), and one for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
These positions are to cater for staff at the bank's dispensaries in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Candidates should check the official notification to confirm the applicable reservation rules and ensure that they have the required certificates if applying under a reserved category.
To be eligible for educational qualifications, candidates must have passed Matriculation or an equivalent examination and carry a Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised university or institution as per the Pharmacy Act 1948 or a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. They must also be registered with the Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council.
A minimum of two years of work experience as a pharmacist is required, and experience with public sector banks, public sector undertakings, or government organisations may be preferred during selection. Applicants are also expected to have basic computer knowledge. A degree in education won’t be sufficient nor are they the only qualification to be selected. This means that in the official notification, all eligibility criteria must be verified, and the applicant should be able to check all eligibility in the application.
The Pharmacist's remuneration is set at ₹600 per hour. The bank may require the selected candidates to work up to five hours a day, and the maximum daily remuneration is ₹3,000. The engagement is on a contract or need basis and will last up to 240 days at a time. Candidates must be conscious this is not a permanent RBI appointment.
According to the contract, the position does not automatically come with permanent employment, and there is no extra pay or allowance other than the fixed remuneration. When hiring and setting employment conditions of the job, interviewers should take into account the contract length and working conditions before the applicant decides if the position should be considered to suit their career outlook.
The selection process will be initiated with the shortlisting of eligible candidates. Educational and professional qualifications, distance from the bank’s dispensaries, and work experience, particularly in public sector banks, public sector undertakings, government organisations, or the RBI are considered.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. This process could include medical examination and documentation verification before being placed on a panel for engagement if the bank requires it. Applicants should not assume that they will get an interview or appointment. Interview times and other updates should be made available through the bank’s official recruitment website.
In other words, candidates must follow the prescribed application procedure and not simply apply online. Applications must be downloaded and filled out as Annex-I in the recruitment notification and self-attested with the supporting documents needed for the application.
This includes educational and professional qualification certificates, experience certificates, proof of age, and registration with the Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council. Applicants claiming reservation in the category must also provide all the relevant category certificates as well. Once the application and supporting documents are complete, the candidates have to put them in a sealed envelope and send them through post or submit them to the RBI Mumbai Regional Office. They must also fill in their details through the online link provided in the official notification.
The application should be sent to the Regional Director, Human Resource Management Department, Recruitment Section, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai Regional Office, Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, Fort, Mumbai - 400001. The envelope should be superscribed with the wording provided in the notification: “Application for the post of Pharmacist on contract basis with fixed hourly remuneration, Mumbai.” The application must be received at the office no later than 5 pm on November 3, 2026. Candidates should not wait until the last day because applications that are late or lack all necessary documents or do not follow the prescribed format will not be accepted.
Candidates are advised to see the RBI's official opportunities portal at https://opportunities.rbi.org.in for recruitment information, the application form, and further directives. The bank also urges job seekers to avoid sending fake recruitment emails and fake appointment letters, and to verify their recruitment information through their own official website.
Before sending out an application, candidates will need to verify the latest guidance, the online submission link, and all the documents from the official notification. With the November 3 deadline approaching, eligible pharmacy professionals who are interested in this contractual opportunity should complete the application process well in advance.
