VIn addition, the film Bhooth Bangla, in which Akshay Kumar stars, has taken up that partnership, under the light of both him and his director Priyadarshan it could be said to create a form of theatrical experience which would combine all three aspects (humour, suspense, horror) into one well known but mysterious and entertaining set. In many ways, it is an authentic group and most of the time, the show is carried on viewers’ heads.
It consists of a lot of radically distinct tonal transitions within its own frame. 40% of the film is filled with joyful little moments of lighthearted humour and simple predicaments with character-based chaos to set the upbeat mood. The second part prepares us to see the ensemble dynamic and gets the audience into the fun cadence of the film. The next 10% turns in the next 10%, and the story builds tension, gently elevating the mood and adding a little mystery to it, into a character note of mystery.

The film digs deeper into darker themes and the emotional undercurrents, the scenes driven by the thriller and the psychological elements where 50% to 95% the film gets on a deeper dives and it is those that resonate the most. It’s these aspects of the film that resonate most clearly on the 50-95% spectrum of the movie.
That extended stretch builds tension and keeps viewers watching for twists and turns. That last part of the film returns to comedy then back to comedy, but it resolves slightly, and that is the balance to the entire experience. This blend definitely goes hand-in-hand with why this movie is fit for a multicultural market and particularly a market with some family theatre performers. Akshay Kumar also gives one of his more settled performances, to be fair.
It's further supported by comic timing, naturalistic performances and an easy-on-screen persona. He seems well-suited to the horror-comedy genre, and repeatedly the best. Well done supporting cast including Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav which adds another level of humor that has a lot of good moments. Tabu deepens, interest, and the well known actress Wamiqa Gabbi segues into the drama with no effort, even though many in this movie cast claim she was of lesser worth than a movie cast might suggest. Technically the film plays well. The haunted world is all very well-crafted, with good design, and great VFX; it just flows so well.
The score, interspersed with humour or fear, adds an attractive touch every time without losing the rhythm and balance needed for this whole movie. That strength is directed by Priyadarshan, and he then makes that strength one of the film’s greatest strengths. His commercial cinema instincts come through when it comes to comedy, tension and surprise without being heavy handed. The script is written at a rapid pace to get rid of all those staid shots.
Above all, by the conclusion, Bhooth Bangla is a showman who gives his audience a joyous laugh, to thrills and enjoys the family drama too as well as the show-stopping thrill, made ready for presentation to the stage. It’s not new technology, of course, but it’s a slick audience entertainer with a lot to say. Last Judgement: Here a horror comedy, put on with this edge-of-your-seat beauty, which returns something to a sort of Akshay and Priyadarshan, and I think it can work at scale.
