Most importantly, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has removed its non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh from Don 3; not only has it been removed, but the film industry has begun to see the end of the conflict as we know it.
FWICE said the decision was taken after discussions, internal deliberation and the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) intervened on behalf of the management of the unit. “It’s very important to keep things happy in the entertainment industry and to have a sense of unity,” the federation said.
FWICE said that disagreements within the film fraternity should be resolved through dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation rather than prolonged confrontation. Thus, we have withdrawn our non-cooperation against Ranveer Singh with immediate effect.
The federation also stated that discussions are still ongoing with producers and stakeholders. FWICE withdrew the directive and asked the actor to take part in the dialogue so that the problem could be resolved.
We wish to appeal to Ranveer Singh to take part in the solution of this issue," the federation said, which it also hoped would be made clear that all parties involved will work together efficiently.
The latest development comes just one day after Ranveer Singh sent a legal notice to FWICE to withdraw the non-cooperation directive imposed against him. It is believed that the legal communication was instrumental in facilitating the discussions between the parties.
AFTER ALL that, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit said the federation had received the legal notice and would respond through appropriate legal channels. He said, however, that the organisation had no intention to chase the actor (as the federation had not targeted the actor and welcomed the positive dialogue.
Pandit said the federation acknowledges Ranveer Singh's contribution to Indian cinema and expressed optimism that the issue would be resolved through discussion. FWICE does not have the authority to ban people, and, in the end, we always wanted to find a mutually acceptable solution.
The federation also acknowledged the efforts of the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association to facilitate communication between the parties. FWICE also thanked IMPPA for their help in facilitating the resolution of the matter and appreciated their help in that regard.
In the early stages of the movie, the controversy came after Ranveer Singh left Don 3 (the most eagerly awaited instalment from the fast-growing action franchise), which Farhan Akhtar is directing. While the reason for the actor’s departure is still not clear, the situation deteriorated, and FWICE issued the non-cooperation order against him.
A lot of Bollywood personalities, filmmakers and actors were divided over the matter, and the issue was raised in a lot of their opinions. And it was clear to many that in reality, such issues could be settled through conversation and not through the media, so this is the reason for FWICE’s new move.
Ranveer Singh’s removal of the directive is a good thing, as he is going to be working on a few future projects. Industry experts think that if this dispute is resolved, we will go back to normal, and there won’t be any more conflict in entertainment.
As discussions continue behind the scenes, all actors, producers and other stakeholders of the Hindi film industry are hopeful that the issue may finally come to an end. The non-cooperation order was removed, and the rest of the Hindi film industry is hopeful that the issue will be resolved in the next few days. We are working on all sides, and we are confident that the issue will be completely resolved in the coming days.
Now that both sides are willing to talk to the other, the focus is on finding a solution that will keep the spirit of cooperation and solidarity that is now fundamental to India’s film industry.
