That's the word: the "Mega Wave" has landed on the international box office. Megastar Chiranjeevi's new Sankranti movie, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu (MSVPG), scored another big one on opening day and silenced skeptics with an insane global gross of ₹84 crore. The action-comedy, directed by the hit machine Anil Ravipudi, has seen particular success abroad, topping all releases in recent years for a senior Telugu star.
North America
Once-in-a-while Top 100 Picture The performances of the film in North America have been mind-boggling. As per trade, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu's first day, including premiere shows, made an astounding $1.50 million (C.D. ₹12.55 crore).
| Region | Collection (Gross) |
| United States | $1.37 Million |
| Canada | $130,000 |
| Total North America | $1.50 Million |
In fact, in the first 24 hours of its release, the film has already overtaken the lifetime revenue of a few of the film’s earlier big-ticket Telugu releases — like Akhanda 2. If the movie had also debuted on a weekend rather than on a Monday, the North American release could have tested the $2.5 million threshold, trade analysts say.
(The Monday Gamble Pays Off) Dominance
Major movie released on a Monday; often a risky move in Indian cinema. But the spirit of Sankranti holiday was of a good nature for Chiranjeevi. For India, the film cashing in on ₹28.50 crore with Monday's special previews clocking in at ₹8.60 crore, resulting in a total domestic opening of ₹37.10 crore. Telugu states have seen an average occupancy of 64.6% of the movie and night shows peaking at a huge 78.8% suggest strong family pull, a stamp of Chiranjeevi’s dominance and, yes, an influence that is characteristic of the directorial style of Anil Ravipudi. The "Vintage Boss" Magic
Despite mixed critical reviews regarding its script, Chiranjeevi's "vintage" avatar has been extremely well received by those in attendance. Many of his fans have praised his comic timing: Something, with it, felt absent from his recent outings. The film is also enhanced by: Venkatesh Daggubati's Cameo, a special appearance that a very family audience in general has turned to for the first time since this episode.
Nayanthara's Story in the Mega House
Nayanthara is lucky for the mega-camp not to have any more than to have her third collaboration with Chiranjeevi. Anil Ravipudi’s Comedy: A couple of his humor had been perceived as tedious, but with mass-meets-family-type entertainment and it's succeeded in getting festive vibes to play out.
The future Outlook With a global gross of ₹84 crore MSVPG is Chiranjeevi’s second world opening, and only the 2019 special Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy(₹85 crore, the first of Chiranjeevi's, the 2nd biggest global opening after Chiranjeevi with global grossing of ₹80 crore. The Sankranti holidays are far from over, and even with stiff competition from Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, the film is sure to continue its headlong momentum.
