The Indian film and TV industry has gone into mourning since the death of veteran producer and filmmaker Mahendra Bohra, who died on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Mumbai. He was the father of the television and film actor Karanvir Bohra. Family sources said Mahendra Bohra had been suffering from age-related health issues for a few months. His health is said to have deteriorated late Tuesday night, and he died surrounded by his immediate family.
A Legacy in Cinema
Mahendra Bohra was a revered member of Mumbai film fraternity, carrying on the storied legacy of the Bohra Brothers family. As the son of renowned actor-producer Ramkumar Bohra, and the cousin of noted producer Sunil Bohra, Mahendra was steeped in filmmaking.
He was remembered chiefly for producing and directing movies that showcased his family’s talents, most notably the 2019 romantic thriller Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna, in which his son Karanvir starred prominently. His oeuvre was marked by a solid grasp of the "masala" genre as well as an adherence to traditional filmmaking principles.
A Pillar of Support
Out of all his professional successes, Mahendra Bohra was known all around the nation as a pillar of his son Karanvir’s career. For Karanvir, from his time in Shararat to his most recent efforts in OTT, Mahendra was a steady source of direction and strength.
Family: His wife, his son Karanvir, daughter-in-law Teejay Sidhu, as well as three granddaughters Bella, Vienna, and Gia Vanessa Snow are remembered as his surviving family members.
Industry Ties: He has left the Bohra family, a family as integral to Indian cinema as that of the film company that had been here since 1948, behind him.
Industry Tributes
News of his death received wide media coverage and a lot of television and film workers felt sympathy. Another episode that the late Pankaj Dheer prayer meetings during prayer meet had several guests recall from late 2025, where Karanvir could be seen warmly helping his elderly father walk up stairs during some prayer meetings and the video in question went viral and was seen as a mark of their bond.
"Mahendra ji was a man of few words but had tremendous vision. His legacy in Bohra history is immeasurable,” an expert producer on the IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association) said in a statement.
The final rites are set for at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu later this evening. We have requested privacy through this difficult time.
