Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra issued a firm denial regarding reports of an Income Tax (IT) raid at her Mumbai residence. The clarification comes at a time when the actress and her businessman husband, Raj Kundra, are already under intense legal scrutiny involving an alleged multi-crore financial fraud.
"Routine Verification," Not a Raid: Lawyer's Statement
Following widespread media speculation that tax officials had stormed the couple's home, Shilpa Shetty's advocate, Prashant Patil, released an official statement to set the record straight.
"On behalf of my client, Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra, I confirm that there has been no Income Tax raid. This was just a routine verification and had nothing to do with a raid," Patil stated.
He further clarified that no search operations were conducted at the residence. The lawyer also issued a stern warning: "Legal action will be taken against those who made this false claim publicly." This suggests the actress intends to crack down on misinformation that could potentially damage her brand reputation.
The Root of the Trouble: The ₹60 Crore Fraud Case
While the IT "raid" has been denied, the couple remains embroiled in a serious investigation by the Mumbai Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
