Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has called for supporters to gather on Friday, October 16, at Central Park at Connaught Place, New Delhi, to wave the national flag. This comes after two of the CJP’s members, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, were arrested for protesting at Jantar Mantar for five days in custody.
Dipke says that the idea is patriotism and is a response to the actions taken against his people. He has invited people who can’t go to Delhi to organise similar Tricolour marches in their own cities.

According to Dipke’s announcement, the gathering will take place on October 16 in Central Park in Connaught Place, Delhi, as a rally organised by CJP and will also be organized by the national flag as well as the CJP supporters. He has also exhorted people in other parts of the country to hold similar rallies at night.
Why Did Abhijeet Dipke Announce the Gathering?
Dipke announced this gathering after CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were taken into judicial custody for five days each.
Dipke argued in his video message that displaying the national flag should not be seen as a crime. He said the government took excessive action against dissent, and he questioned the confinement of his friends.
He said he worried about being arrested after his announcement but he still carried the Tricolour.
The gathering is to bring attention to the arrests and at the same time to the party's position on the right to protest and express political dissent.
What Happened at Jantar Mantar?
The latest development follows the CJP's protest at Jantar Mantar, a site that has been known for demonstrations in Delhi.
Party members took the national flag to the spot and jeered Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The group was held up by the police and detained, they said.
Das and Ranka were taken into judicial custody for five days while Ajinkya Shinde was released following being bound over for six months to keep peace and good behaviour.
The CJP has rejected the suspension of its members and portrayed the incident as an attempt to curb peaceful protest. The competing stories have made the incident a subject of debate regarding protest regulations and freedom of expression.
CJP's Position on the National Flag and Protest Rights
Dipke has framed the proposed meeting around the national flag, arguing that waving the Tricolour is a sign of patriotism. His supporters should show solidarity with the detained party members, he said.
The party also encouraged people who cannot make it to the Delhi event to organise similar marches locally.
The controversy raises questions about how authorities police demonstrations when protests are restricted, and how that affects citizens' right to peaceful assembly and political expression.
A gathering will be legal if there are rules, permissions and circumstances. But the Jantar Mantar incident does not seem to have been as bad as the one announced at Connaught Place.
What Will Happen Next?
The proposed gathering at Central Park is on October 16 at 5 PM.
Dipke's call comes as the arrest of CJP members and party resistance to police action continues. How the government reacts and of course the circumstances around the gathering will affect it.
