Mohammad Tahir Anwar, elder brother of Masood Azhar, has passed away in Pakistan. His funeral was held in Bahawalpur although his death has never been disclosed by the organization at present.
Tahir Anwar was buried late last night near Jamia Masjid Usman Wali in Bahawalpur, the news channel said. His death was confirmed through official communications between the Jaish-e-Mohammed, and he worked and was active in its management for many years.
Tahir Anwar is believed to be a member of Masood Azhar’s five brothers and had played a crucial role in his outfit. His death has come in the wake of the number of violent deaths by militants in recent months, according to the Pakistan government and is only partially seen in context, so long as they give not a word to us. Also, no official probe is open on his death, and there is still no evidence to show who killed him.
It comes at the same time that there are lots of casualties in Masood Azhar’s family, also. After India’s purported ‘Operation Sindoor’ had ended, Azhar’s family, with several family members, including close relatives, were killed in an attack in Bahawalpur. In recordings attributed to Azhar's audio, there have been a host of casualties amongst his family and friends.
Jaish-e-Mohammed remains one of Pakistan’s most prominent militant organisations and has been linked to several major terror attacks on India, including the attack at the 2001 Parliament, the 2008 Mumbai and Pathankot Air Base in 2016 and 2019 attack at Pulwama.
The Indian terrorist behind India’s worst attacks, Masood Azhar, has remained virtually alone for years in the world of terror and remains at the centre of much speculation on his health. Yet despite the fact that intelligence reports have indicated he is still involved in terror in Pakistan.
Authorities in that state and the security authorities in general monitor developments closely, as well as recent incidents in which individuals belonging to militant networks have targeted them.
