UAE Weather Update: Scattered Rain and Notable Temperature Drop Forecasted

Residents throughout the United Arab Emirates are advised to brace for changes in weather and scattered rainfall from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) which predicts a "noticeable decrease" in average outdoor temperatures starting today. The jittery sky will be fueled by a sinking surface low-pressure system, which is likely to deliver fluctuating volumes of rain to much of the country including the big urban centers of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

There may be rain showers scattered throughout the country with wide-ranging clouds and wind. Cloudy skies are projected over the landscape on Wednesday and Thursday, NCM bulletin latest confirms. Rain is light to moderate in most places, but heaviest in northern and eastern areas (Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah) at times.

There will be moderate to heavy rain in northern and eastern areas as cloud cover sets to thin by Thursday night to decrease on the day, with some temporary instability in coastal areas through Friday morning, according to the NCM.

Temperature Drop And Wind Conditions

The only notable departure is the cooler daytime highs, and one of the main features of this weather change is the decline in daytime highs. Having warmed temperatures to the mid-30s earlier in the week, a cooler northwesterly air mass is likely to settle in.

  • Abu Dhabi & Dubai: maximum temperatures to be recorded as being approximately 34°C (Wednesday) with overnight lows at 22°C–23°C.
  • Northern Emirates: with high values between 30°C and 33°C.
  • Wind Speed: expected to be between 10 to 25 km/h, with gusts as high as 40 km/h. The high winds can push dust and sand into internal spaces, creating reduced horizontal visibility for motorists.

Marine Warning: Rough Seas Ahead

The NCM has announced a warning for shore and sailors. The Arabian Gulf is projected to be rough through Thursday, and Oman Sea will stay mild to moderate with occasional bouts of roughness. People who work at sea should keep an eye out for updates and be careful.

National Center of Meteorology, Abu Dhabi

The National Center of Meteorology in Abu Dhabi expects sunny conditions on today, with a high of 29°C and a low of 20°C. The north is expected to have winds hitting 19 mph, with no rain today.
