The crash was so damaging, according to police officials, that some people in the wreck were trapped inside the damaged Tata Magic vehicle. Residents and emergency rescue teams rushed to the scene and assisted in pulling out the victims. Wounded bodies were hurried to a nearby hospital for treatment; corpses of the dead were removed for post-mortem examinations.

Some of the injured were said by authorities to be in critical condition. But initial investigations suggested overspeeding may have contributed to the crash. The truck also lost control and struck the passenger vehicle coming from the opposite direction, witnesses added.

The police department was called to the scene of the accident from the earliest known reports of the traffic accident, and they investigated the crash. Traffic on the route was limited for a time, with long lines of vehicles on either side of the road after the crash.

The names of several victims were being verified, and officials said police were reaching out to their family members. The district administration extended condolences to the families of the deceased and promised appropriate support for the injured. Road accidents continue to remain prevalent as a major public health concern as well as a leading cause of death in Uttar Pradesh.

Catastrophes occur due to road overspeeding, careless driving, reckless driving, and poor road discipline (among others). An ongoing problem in Uttar Pradesh is the enforcement of traffic rules to reduce accidents. As the government’s constant messages from the regulators encourage obeying the traffic laws that do not permit dangerous driving, which can cause such incidents.
