Airtel Customers Report Network Issues on Premium Plans Across Indian Cities

Telecom giant Airtel is getting complaints across the board as users in many Indian cities reported mobile and broadband services disrupted. Airtel Priority subscribers, especially those on their Priority service, reported disruption in the faster 5G connectivity offered by the company.

Social media users also voiced frustration at weak signals, dropped calls and connectivity issues and even at off‑peak hours like 3 a.m. Broadband users in places like Gurgaon contacted CEO Gopal Vittal directly, citing repeated disruptions and demanding accountability.

Airtel’s support team immediately responded online and apologized for the inconvenience and asked affected users to share their numbers through direct messages for individual checks. Outage trackers didn’t see a huge nationwide spike, suggesting the disruptions may have been localized rather than systemic.

The Airtel app has also suggested that customers can use troubleshooting tools available on the Airtel app, such as signal checks and restart options as temporary solutions. All of these are part of Airtel’s greater customer experience push to better customer service, especially those with advanced postpaid plans as a priority to get access to high speed services and faster access to customers.

Such incidents are indicative of the challenges telecom operators face in maintaining seamless connectivity amid rapid 5G expansion. Airtel has been positioning itself as a leader in premium services and now needs to convince customers that its infrastructure can deliver on its promises to ensure that its infrastructure can deliver on its commitments.

And although Airtel hasn’t made any official comments regarding the problem beyond customer support, analysts say it’s going to have to act quickly in order to avoid reputational damage. Reliability in India’s fiercely competitive telecom sector is still a big part of the game as more and more companies are coming out with 5G products. As Airtel is working to get those features to be available in its postpaid and 5G services, it is not clear whether the problems were technical glitches or a bigger network strain.
