A land dispute in Maharashtra’s Akola district turned deadly on Friday, September 11, 2026, after a Bolero pickup allegedly rammed a residential house several times in Jamvasu village, killing a 75-year-old woman and seriously injuring others.
The deceased is Sonabai Makharam Jadhav, who was inside the house when the vehicle crashed into the house. The Free Press Journal said Jamvasu village under Barshitakli taluka was the scene and the incident has raised a lot of panic in the village.
House was allegedly rammed multiple times.
According to initial reports, the Bolero pickup was driven into the house four to five times. The repeated impact caused substantial structural damage, with part of the building collapsing.
A video from the scene also shows villagers attempting to stop the vehicle by throwing bricks at it. Public shock over the incident has been added to.
The attack is believed to be related to the long-standing land dispute, although the exact circumstances, motive and sequence of events are still to be established.
Several People Seriously Injured
Besides Sonabai's death, two to three other people were seriously injured in the incident, police said. Emergency assistance was requested because the damaged structure left people trapped or endangered in the premises.
The village is a bit scared about this and residents of the village also responded to the violence and have been trying to intervene when the vehicle is driven into the house.

Police Detain Suspect, Seize Vehicle
The police from Barshitakli station arrived at the village after receiving information about the incident. At least one suspect was arrested and the Bolero pickup that allegedly carried out the attack was seized. An investigation is still ongoing and the reason for the alleged attack will be established.
Another report on September 11 also stated that multiple people had been caught but because details were still being worked out, these claims should be considered preliminary until they are verified by police or an official case record.
Investigation Underway
The fatal incident has once again shown how protracted property and land disputes can escalate into serious violence. Police will look at witness statements, video footage, damaged property and the seized car as part of the investigation.
There will also be a need to establish whether the vehicle attack was deliberate and the role of each of those involved.
