Television astrologer Kamalakar Bhat was arrested in connection with the brutal murder of Avarekoppa Vasantha Naik, and now he has opened a Pandora's box of accusations against his personal conduct. As Siddapur prosecutors (Uttara Kannada) explore the motivation for the deadly confrontation, Bhat’s fame as a spiritual guide is under pressure from evidence of a turbulent and “patterned” private life.
Audio Clips Going Viral and the “Sagar Connection”
Now that Mr. Bhat has recently gone viral on social media with audio recordings. One particularly striking scene involves a combative exchange between the astrologer and a former girlfriend from Sagar. The recording is of Bhat formally ending their nine-year relationship at the urging of Suchitra, his co-accused and the woman at the focal point of the ongoing investigation into the murder. In a voice message supposedly conveyed while Suchitra was around, Bhat makes degrading comments about his ex; he compares her to Suchitra, whom he accuses of being the woman of greater status and "lifestyle", not a passing acquaintance.
Several Relationships Under Investigation
Police sources have suggested that Bhat’s supposed ties were widespread; not limited to Suchitra, however the high-visibility relationship with her is the evidence of an offshoot relationship. Patterns indicated during the probe indicate:
- Location: Alleged connections from Bengaluru, Sirsi, and Sagar.
- Variety in Backgrounds: Bhat is said to have engaged with women from a variety of different groups, and to have had a reported affair with a Muslim woman.
- Repetitive Pattern: There was a pattern, investigators say, where Bhat moved from one partner to another, using his influence and his television persona as a “builder” of trust.
The case dates to a violent confrontation on February 2, 2026. Kamalakar Bhat, Suchitra, and several others were allegedly present at the home of Mahesh Naik, Suchitra's husband, in Avarekoppa. During a heated brawl sparked by the discovery of Suchitra and Bhat’s affair, Mahesh's brother Vasantha Naik was fatally stabbed while trying to make sure his family was safe.
Official Caution
The audio clips have stoked considerable public interest and "photo wars" between local political elements, but police have warned that these materials are in the process of gaining formal authentication. The materials are being used to build a larger motive for the conspiracy on February 2nd. While Bhat is still in judicial custody, more details about the "vashikaran" (attraction) tactics he reportedly employed, as well as his financial dealings with his various partners, are likely to surface.
