A Long-Standing Relationship Meets a Bitter End

In the earliest preliminary reports we received from police, Abhishek had been in an intimate relationship with a young woman for six to seven years. The two had met back in college. But the relationship hit a major roadblock when the girl’s parents found out about their affair. For many reasons, the woman's family opposed her marrying Abhishek.

According to reports, after the parents attempted to pressure the girl, she distanced herself from Abhishek and stopped calling or messaging him. This abrupt seclusion and the dissolution of a seven-year connection, according to sources connected with the victim, put Abhishek deep in psychological torment. Feeling unable to endure the humiliation and loss of his partner, he made the drastic move at the Yelahanka New Town home.

Police Investigation and Recovered Note

Upon receipt of the information, Yelahanka New Town Police were in immediate vicinity and did their first mahazar (inspection) by the spot. Officials also seized a death note according to their evidence. According to the note he wrote, he recounted the psychological anguish he endured after a girl and family turned him away, stating that he saw no future without her.

The police have relocated the body for post-mortem analysis and the case of unnatural death is entered. “We are currently investigating what the death note says and will be checking on the family members and the young woman involved to piece together the full events leading up to this tragedy,” a senior police official said.

A Growing Concern

And yet again this tragic event brings back to the forefront the urgency of the need for mental health support as well as emotional counseling for young adult people in a relationship crisis. Mental health experts say long-term romantic attachments that are abruptly broken lead to severe clinical depression if left untreated and without professional help or robust family support systems.

Yelahanka New Town Police continue with their investigation to determine whether abetment took place. For now, a family mourns the loss of a bright young graduate whose life has been cut short by a broken heart.
