A high-profile investigation is underway in Bengaluru after a prominent businessman, Rajagopal, the owner of Narthaki and Kargil Bar, was injured in a mysterious firing incident in the Basavanagudi area. The attack, initially reported as involving an air gun, is now being scrutinized by the City Crime Branch (CCB) due to suspicions of a targeted assault.
Details of the Attack and Injury
The incident occurred around 8:30 PM on the night of December 10th near Krishna Rao Park in Basavanagudi. Rajagopal sustained an injury to his neck from the firing. He was immediately rushed to Bangalore Hospital in Jayanagar, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
An FIR regarding the firing was registered yesterday at the Basavanagudi Police Station based on the complainant's statement that the weapon used was an air gun. However, police are still verifying the exact nature of the weapon used.
Victim Claims No Threats, Police Suspects Conspiracy
During initial questioning by the police, Rajagopal maintained that he has not received any threat calls and does not suspect any specific individuals of carrying out the attack. He claims to be completely unaware of the motive or the identity of the shooter.
Despite the victim's lack of suspicion, the police are proceeding with a thorough investigation. Preliminary analysis suggests that the firing was a targeted attack, indicating that the perpetrators intended to strike the businessman. Police are actively investigating the possibility that the attack was part of a larger conspiracy to assassinate the businessman.
CCB and Local Police Join Forces
Given the gravity and potential targeted nature of the incident, the CCB Police have visited the scene to inspect the area. A joint team, including the Inspector from the Basavanagudi Police Station and a team of CCB Inspectors, visited Rajagopal at the hospital to gather more information directly from the victim. Both the Basavanagudi police and the CCB team are now jointly searching for the shooter and investigating the motive behind the mysterious assault.
