Police sources say it was a personal argument with Yamuna over the affair. Yamuna suspected her husband Mallegowda had an illicit relationship with Chaya, according to a police note. As part of the investigation, the neighbors (brother and sister Sudeep and Yamuna) went to Chaya’s house to ask her about the affair.

What started as a conversation quickly turned into a verbal spat and then escalated into a heated discussion. Chaya's young son, who was present at the house, allegedly intervened violently in the incident. During the fight, this boy allegedly attacked Yamuna and Sudeep with a heavy knife, which seemed like it would cut them with a horror and terror effect; so the boy had to attack Yamuna and Sudeep with a machete-like weapon.

Both victims received extremely serious injuries in the attack and were killed at close range, preliminary evidence indicates. They suffered such brutal attacks even with an old-school investigator’s forensics team.

Residents reported hearing several high-pitched arguments before the situation spiraled out of control. The scene was as bad as it got when authorities arrived, finding both of them lying in blood by the time they were discovered. Police quickly sealed off the area and took the child into custody for questioning.

The entire family has reacted with emotional distress. Sudeep’s father broke down at the scene, crying in solidarity with the grief and shock of the family. The death of two relatives in such a horrible way has been shattering for the families.

Police have registered a case and are investigating all aspects of the incident (who did it and what precipitated it). This involves the minor’s legal actions as outlined in juvenile justice law.

It’s just another tragedy, and personal disputes can lead to irreversible violence. Authorities have warned citizens to seek legal peace and not attack each other.
