On Wednesday a toddler an inquisitive eighteen-month-old was playing inside the house, and this happened. While the video was recovered, in the manner reported later, the child had apparently wandered through the main door to the house that had been left open or opened inadvertently.

Left to her own devices, the child landed on the balcony or staircase landing on the third floor. She attempted to peek over or play around the edge, but dropped to the ground, falling several feet on the punishing ground underfoot.

Caught on Camera

The footage that eventually emerged from CCTV is a terrifying sight. The small child is caught flying so violently that it landed on the ground at the end. The landing caused head injuries and internal trauma. Neighbors and passers-by who had seen the fall felt seized in instant shock then rushed to aid the child.

A Mother’s Anguish

The deepest moment happened right after the fall. As soon as she heard all of this noise and learned that her child was missing, the mother ran to the street. The mother fainted in the middle of the road after discovering her daughter lying motionless, in a pool of blood in the aftermath, shaken and traumatized seeing her daughter lifeless next to the pool of blood.

Nearby, bystanders raced to save the unconscious mother and the sick child. The family rapidly moved the toddler to a nearby health facility, and she was sent to a private specialized hospital for more intensive treatment.

Current Medical Status

The young girl at the time of update was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital. Her health, her doctor tells them, has deteriorated to a place where she’s “very, very life-threatening”: The last 24 to 48 hours are significant for her life. She is having life support now from medical crews who are scrambling to keep her vitals right.

At the same time, there are also weeping parents waiting outside the ICU for a miracle. They are also in the community, weeping with solidarity and prayer for the family for the child in their grieving moment.

A Grim Reminder for Safety

This sad fate is a sad reminder for parents living in high-rise buildings, double-story apartments, and multi-storey suites. Important are the following on shoulders of the safety professionals:

So make sure balcony railings are high enough that gaps don’t pass through the child.

  • Door Latches: Child-proof locks or at times, top-latches that a child would never be able to reach.
  • Parenting a child: The youngest ones can move with great speed; just one moment of inattention can lead to catastrophe.

The local police have come to the site and to find out if there any safety breaches occurred during construction stages. For now, the city waits in bated breath and awaits the little “warrior” begging to save her life in the intensive care unit (ICU).
