A dispute between a landlord and tenants in Bengaluru turned violent in early stages (several people have been hospitalized), reports are saying. The incidence happened on March 29 in Kodihalli (Jeevan Bheema Nagar).
According to police reports, the landlord was Shobha and Devaraj and the tenants - Naresh, his brother Sachin and their sister Rekha - who had been in the house only one week prior to the incident.
The dispute started due to their disputes over higher utility bill rates; the landlord told us there would be higher payments and gas and water bills. But the tenants told me they didn’t agree and had heated arguments about it about it.
What began as a verbal dispute quickly turned physical, with both sides in trouble when knives and blades were used at times (in fact when the verbal fight happened).
As reported by Naresh, Sachin and Rekha suffered injuries at the incident, with wounds to their face, head and other parts of body noted in the incidents. At least one account says Rekha lost consciousness while she was being attacked and water was poured on her head and other things while she was unconscious.
The injured people were rushed down to the Victoria Hospital where all treated and brought there. After what followed Naresh filed a complaint to Jeevan Bheema Nagar Police Station.
Based on the complaint a police have filed an FIR and the matter is being investigated now. At present authorities are investigating everything and interviews of both sides can be done at the moment.
This incident heightens the friction between landlord and tenant more so than always and particularly in financial disputes. Police would, they say, certainly come up with all the charges when they have examined it.
