A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 21-year-old medical student near Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital in Bengaluru on Wednesday evening. The victim, identified as Krithika, was a fourth-year medical student at the same college.
The incident occurred at around 4:15 PM when Krithika was returning after finishing classes. She was riding on an Activa scooter with her friend Hamsa, who was driving the vehicle, while Krithika was seated behind.
Bike Skids After Hitting Moving Lorry
According to preliminary reports, the scooter allegedly collided with a moving tipper lorry near the college entrance. Following the impact, the bike skidded on the road.
The rider, Hamsa, fell toward the left side of the road, while Krithika fell toward the right side, directly into the path of the lorry. Tragically, the heavy vehicle’s wheel ran over Krithika, causing fatal injuries.
Another Student Seriously Injured
Hamsa, the rider of the scooter, sustained serious injuries in the accident. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and is currently undergoing treatment at the Rajarajeshwari Hospital attached to the medical college. Doctors are closely monitoring her condition.
Police Investigation Underway
Officials from the Kengeri Traffic Police visited the accident spot and conducted an inspection to determine the exact cause of the crash. A case has been registered at the traffic police station, and authorities are examining CCTV footage and witness statements as part of the investigation.
The tragic death of the young medical student has left her classmates and faculty members at the college in shock, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety and heavy vehicle movement near educational institutions in Bengaluru.
