Dutta, known as Puja Dutta, was found dead in a mysterious death in Adugodi before the police could take charge until further clues emerged.
The entire area was shocked, especially where her body was found, where her home had been left, and what they could see, which seemed strange. Puja was discovered dead and decomposed in a dilapidated rented room, authorities said, days after her death. Her body and decaying remains were found there.
Locals alerted the police when they noticed a nauseating smell wafting through the home. When the police arrived, she was still lying there naked, and the case became more suspicious by the second. Previous evidence suggests Puja is believed to have died around five days before being found dead.
It is still unclear what kind of death it was. Whether it was a suicide, accidental death, or a more sinister crime is an ongoing investigation by authorities. Her room adds to the confusion. Hundreds of torn sheets of paper were found scattered throughout the scene by investigators.
Some of those pages featured drawings and handwritten notes, and words kept written on them — frequently written but repeated, most notably the names thought to belong to someone familiar with her. Notes were transcribed (in English and Hindi) with sketches and symbolic drawings.
Puja was described as a chronic user of sketching and ink on paper. Many of these papers featured the names of relatives and what appeared to be emotional or personal statements. And the room itself was filled with papers, ripped from sheets and sheets, and there were reports of so much paper that multiple sacks had been filled from the floor. It raises the possibility of Puja’s suffering, investigators said, because the family may well be experiencing mental distress or depression, perhaps stemming from a rejected relationship.
But they’re not jumping to conclusions: “Everything from homicide to murder is being investigated." Adugodi Police and the Investigating and Scene of Crime, or SOCO, team searched the premises meanwhile. They confiscated her mobile phone, and are investigating the contents for clues about her last days, contacts with her co-workers and her emotional state.
They interviewed her family, as well as previous associates from the private company where she was employed. The police are in the area, searching her phone and photographing her things. There was then an ID card she owned for her prior job, which she ended up leaving, and discovered.
But there is currently no strong evidence linking the scene to foul play. Police aren’t ruling this out, however. Investigators have investigated closely, starting with her personal relationships, social behaviour, and mental state. Her body has been sent for a postmortem examination, and officials said only the forensic report will determine the specific causes of death, such as a combination of poisoning, complications of illness or events beyond a person’s control. So far, many remain ambiguous about the mysterious death of Puja Dutta; was it, as some argue, a sign of a mental illness that ultimately led to her suicide?
