Bengaluru Power Cut From Feb 4 to Feb 9: BESCOM announces 4-hour daily power cuts; Check the list of affected areas

North Bengaluru residents and businesses are looking forward to a week of utility outages as BESCOM sets off to carry out critical maintenance work on the infrastructure. Beginning Wednesday, February 4 and continuing through Monday, February 9, certain communities will have daily power cuts tailored to fortify the city’s aging electrical network.

Explanation for the Outages

The BESCOM government stated that the blackouts were caused by emergency maintenance of the 66/11 kV HBR Power Station and upgrades to it. “With these measures in place, it was determined that not the least one of the most difficult was to prevent the continued unplanned and extended power outage, and so ensure that in an extremely demanding time of the year, the power supply from all facilities is stable. Though the project is aimed at improving the long-term reliability of the network, temporary impacts will be felt in residences, private offices, and commercial locations.

The power cuts will happen for about four hours a day, mostly between 10:00 AM-2:00 PM or 11:00 AM-3:00 PM, but can come later in the day, as well. Some of the key areas that are getting affected are:

The remaining areas (outside of the main list) under BESCOM have experienced potential fluctuations and outages in Divya Shanthi, Govindapura, Karle, Brindavan Nagar, Titan Garage, Bhairavi Apartments and Hegde Nagar.

Basics of the Resident Principles and guidelines. To avoid disruption to everyday life and professional productivity due to these planned outages, BESCOM has informed:

  • Prioritize Charging: Make sure your major electronic gear (smartphones, laptops and power banks) is fully charged by 10:00 AM.
  • Water Management Residents should be advised to fill overhead tanks and reserve drinking water as electric pumps are not operational during the power outage period.
  • Backup Readiness: Enterprises and households who are using UPS systems or generators should also look at battery and fuel sources.
  • Work Schedules : People who are working from home in the affected zones might need to schedule their work hours so that work hours are scheduled around the set-up time and do not interfere with their ability to connect.
