Residents and businesses in South and West Bengaluru are advised to prepare for significant power outages this week. The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) and Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) have announced a series of scheduled maintenance works aimed at upgrading infrastructure and preventing winter breakdowns.
Major Outage on Wednesday, December 24
On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, power supply will be interrupted from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (and in some areas until 5:00 PM) to facilitate quarterly maintenance at the Padmanabhanagar, Subramanyapura, and ISRO Layout stations.

Extended 4-Day Power Cut (Dec 25–28)
Starting from Christmas Day (Dec 25) through December 28, BESCOM has initiated a specialized 12-hour daily outage (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM) for the Attibele and Anekal zones. This is to replace existing lines with High-Temperature Low-Sag (HTLS) conductors to improve grid capacity.
Affected areas include: Yadvanahalli, Attibele Industrial Area, Mayasandra, Dasanapura, Anekal Town, and surrounding villages.
How to Prepare
To minimize the impact of these outages, BESCOM suggests the following:
- Charge Devices: Ensure mobile phones, laptops, and power banks are fully charged before 10:00 AM.
- Water Storage: Fill overhead tanks and sumps early, as electric pumps will be non-functional.
- Appliance Safety: Switch off high-power appliances (ACs, refrigerators) before the outage to avoid damage from voltage fluctuations during restoration.
- Lifts and Elevators: Avoid using lifts near the start and end of the outage window to prevent being stranded.
