The Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of the St. Mary’s Feast celebrations and Health Mother (Arogya Matha) flag hoisting ceremony at Shivajinagar Traffic Police Station. With thousands of devotees expected to attend the religious event, roadblocks and parking restrictions have been made in place in the vicinity of the city for safety and for traffic movement to be smooth traffic movement during the religious event.
Vehicular traffic in and around Shivajinagar will be stopped on most of the major roads from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM today. This is because of the fact that there will be heavy traffic in major tourist areas in Shivajinagar, and other major roads in and around Shivajinagar are blocked by traffic.
The traffic police said they advise motorists to avoid the affected routes during the specified hours and utilise the alternative roads. Commuters who drive into the central parts of Bengaluru, especially those coming from Shivajinagar, Russell Market, Infantry Road, and the surrounding areas, are advised to plan their journeys to avoid congestion and delays.
Major Roads Closed for Traffic
Several important roads will be closed for all types of vehicular movement during the event.
Traffic from Balekundri Circle to Jyothi Café Junction will be prohibited, as well as from Shivaji Circle to Jyothi Café Junction. Vehicles from BRV Junction to Select Junction and from Boring Hospital Junction to Select Junction will not be allowed to go through.
Authorities also closed routes connecting Quadrant Circle to RMS Junction and roads from Bamboo Bazaar to Sunni Circle. These restrictions will be in place until the end of the event.

Alternative Routes for Commuters
Bengaluru Traffic Police also announced several diversion routes. BMTC buses going to Queens Road will be diverted to the Traffic Headquarters Junction and moved along Infantry Road to reach Shivajinagar Bus Stand.
Meanwhile, buses coming from the Anil Kumble Circle and Manipal Centre Junction directions will be allowed to drop passengers at BRV Junction. Commuters are advised to cooperate with traffic officials and follow route guidance shown at major intersections.
Drivers should pay close attention to temporary signboards and traffic marshals stationed along the affected spots. The diversions will help to minimise traffic flow despite the expected high traffic volumes.
Parking Restrictions and Designated Parking Areas
As part of the traffic management plan, parking has been completely forbidden on Russell Market, Broadway Road, Infantry Road, and Cubbon Road. Vehicles parked in restricted zones can be towed away, and violators could be punished.
To make the roads more accessible to visitors, authorities have identified some parking areas. Devotees and members of the public will be advised to park their vehicles in Chota Maidan, the first floor of Shivajinagar BMTC Bus Stand, the area in front of Safina Plaza, and Ramada Hotel.
The traffic officials have appealed to residents, commuters, and devotees to comply with the arrangements and use public transport when possible. The temporary measures are to ensure a safe and orderly celebration while minimising disruption to daily traffic movement in Bengaluru’s busy Shivajinagar area.
