In a rush from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Chandigarh, there was a blast Tuesday that drew alarm and raised security fears Wednesday for it. Fortunately, thus far neither there are any casualties nor any permanent damage to the incident but rather there is danger.
Briefer said the explosion occurred at the entrance of the party office and created noise that woke up the nearest neighbors and passersby. There was little damage but glass and debris scattered around the scene and the blast had little impact on it.
Security and police were rushed to the scene immediately when they heard about the incident. It was immediately cordoned off and a thorough search investigation was going on with no more security problem.
Team members of bomb disposal and forensic experts were on hand to assess the site and gather evidence. We are already trying to determine what caused the bomb, and if it was a direct hit, or an accident due to improvised explosive devices (IED) or something like that all at once.
A senior representative said an investigation is under way and CCTV footage of nearby locations will be checked on to observe activity that was there prior to the incident.
And security in Chandigarh, and particularly government halls and political centers are being intensified as a precautionary measure for security to be maintained. Police are heavily patrolling along volatile streets too.
Officials have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. They have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure safety and bring those responsible to justice.
Political establishments will be concerned: there are security concerns under way at present and the need to be on watch and vigilant in public. Some of this will be disclosed with the investigation in progress later.
