A wave of bomb threat emails has triggered heightened security across multiple locations in India, including the Bihar Legislative Assembly, the Delhi Legislative Assembly, and several schools in Punjab, prompting large-scale security operations and public concern.
On Friday, the Bihar Legislative Assembly received a bomb threat via email, leading to immediate action by law enforcement agencies. According to officials, including Sub-Divisional Police Officer Anu Kumari, the alert was taken seriously, and a thorough inspection of the premises was initiated without delay.
Bomb disposal squads and dog units were deployed at the site, and security personnel conducted intensive searches across the Assembly complex. Authorities ensured that all safety protocols were strictly followed to rule out any potential danger. Officials also noted that a similar threat had been received earlier on March 13, which was later declared a hoax.
In a related development, the Delhi Legislative Assembly also received a threatening email a day earlier, triggering a major security drill in the national capital. The email, reportedly sent at around 8:14 AM, warned of possible explosions at multiple locations, including the Assembly, Secretariat, certain schools, and even a metro station.
Swift action was taken by Delhi Police, who, along with bomb disposal teams and canine units, carried out extensive anti-sabotage checks at all mentioned locations. Security was tightened across sensitive zones, with additional personnel deployed and entry and exit points closely monitored.
Officials indicated that the threat appeared to be a hoax, but emphasized that no chances were being taken when it comes to public safety. Cybercrime teams have been engaged to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender, highlighting the increasing use of digital platforms in such threat incidents.
The situation was not limited to Bihar and Delhi. Several schools in Patiala, Punjab, also received similar bomb threat emails, prompting immediate evacuation and search operations. Similar threat emails had previously been reported in parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, where investigations later confirmed them to be false alarms. Despite this, authorities continue to treat each threat with utmost seriousness to avoid any risk to human life.
