Some kinds of violence has begun in Ankola where there is another shocking attack against Congress leader. There is a picture of Gopalakrishna Naik being brutally beaten up by rods and a knife near Keni village in Taluk at the very same place.
According to initial reports, the attack involved Naik at a distance in his car. A crew of miscreants who fled in a Goa-registered Ford vehicle suddenly attacked him to his death, one says. They first used iron rods on him in the head and neck and stabbed him deep.
The attack was swift and targeted (Witness accounts), which also raise speculation of premeditated motive). The attackers fled in the wake of attack and Naik was injured severely.
He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Ankola where he is currently being treated. He is also very critical, we are in close communication here with medical personnel they are constantly checking how he is as well.
Police from Ankola Police Station have registered a case and launched a manhunt to catch the attackers. Cameras from the local areas are being taken and evidence of suspects now found. The vehicle used in the attack has also been registered in Goa and so far that could be very useful in finding the suspects.
All possible angles such as political rivalry, personal animosity or other motive were involved in the assault, security and prosecution authorities said. However, no firm explanation for the latest attack has been forthcoming yet.
I think the incident brought a debate and concerns in our city party members and leaders of local communities for the party that is protesting the violence and for everyone about it and why someone is behind this to take the necessary actions against anyone with such group and to take action against this group immediately. We worry about security and especially in the region, I feel safe in the community and politicians are concerned.
The attack is reflective of increasingly serious threats to law and order and the safety of public officials. Police are to take enforcement action but who is responsible and to bring them to justice at the very earliest can people see it.
The investigation still continues so as in this case, we are searching the attackers and what motivates them to commit this violence.
