The crime was so senseless that the community is in a state of deep grief and disbelief. The dead woman and three girls who are aged five, four and three years old are identified as a 30-year-old woman. The family lived in a small, ground-floor rented room near Sarvodaya Vidyalaya.

The chilling discovery took place at about 8:20 AM on February 25, 2026, after neighbors reported an unusual silence from the house and called the authorities. The police, upon entering the building, discovered the four bodies lying on the ground together in a pool of blood.

Prime Suspect Under the Radar

The probe has been narrowed down sharply to the husband of the victim her husband Munchan Kewat who remains missing since the crime was revealed. Kewat, who sold vegetables at the nearby Azadpur Mandi, is now the prime suspect in the case. There were no signs of a struggle and authorities think the murders might have taken place late Tuesday night or in the early hours of Wednesday with the victims asleep.

Police Launch Manhunt

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North), Hareshwar Swami said several teams were in fact sent out to track down the missing husband. “The husband’s sudden disappearance, combined with the fact that his mobile phone has been turned off has aroused serious suspicions. We are conducting searches at his potential hideouts and interrogating relatives,” the DCP added. A team of forensic experts and a crime team have spent hours at the site gathering DNA samples and fingerprints to assemble a timeline of crime.

Community in Shock

The residents of Chandan Park said the family had been largely keep-to-themselves, but no major domestic disputes had been reported to neighbors recently. The brutalities of the deaths targeting three helpless toddlers have led to calls for immediate justice. CCTV coverage over the narrow lanes of Samaypur Badli is currently being scanned to track the movements of Kewat, who reportedly ran from the crime scene. The bodies are being sent for a post-mortem examination at a government hospital to pinpoint the exact moment of death. The motive for such a heinous attack remains unclear as the police intensify their search.
