In an anomaly that was more a staged Hollywood film than a village nuptials, the village of Demi Kalan in the Kamareddy district of Telangana witnessed a very special type marriage. On Sunday, February 22, 2026, twin brothers Vijay and Vinay tied the knot with twin sisters Keerthana and Keerthi, thus adding to the visual magic that had quickly erupted on social media.
The timing not only brought extra meaning to the wedding, but World Twins Day was the very moment the two sets of identical siblings were joining forces, making it a poetic celebration of biological carbon copies.
A Magical Ceremony Under Floral Arches
The wedding venue was transformed into a golden oasis, with a rich web of ornate pillars and colorful flower arches on both sides set up for just four characters. It was the grooms, Dumpati Vijay and Vinay of Ghanpur village who arrived, dressed in matching sherwanis with heavy embroidered designs and traditional turbans.
The brides Keerthana and Keerthi from Demi Kalan, who were their brides, each with their own custom red and gold silk sarees, and with intricate temple jewellery. As the pair sat side-by-side on the mandap, the visuals’ symmetry was so good that guests reported doing a double-take. The ceremony coincided with the exact same muhurtham (auspicious time), and both of the brothers tied the sacred Mangalsutra at the same time, to the cheers of the cheering audience.
The Talk of the Town and the Internet
The event was described as once-in-a-lifetime by villagers from Machareddy and Tadwai mandals as they flooded to the venue. “We’ve seen twins in our village before, but when we see two sets of twins marrying each other on the same stage — we will tell our grandchildren about that,” one local resident said.
The magic of the “mirror-image wedding” quickly spilled into the Internet. Images and videos of the couples standing side by side in exactly the same poses collected millions of views within a few hours. Though many posted messages of joy and blessings, the internet’s comic side wasn’t far behind. Humor about future family confusion became a running theme:
- "Imagine the confusion at the breakfast table! ‘Wait, are you my wife or my sister-in-law?’"
- "The ultimate test for the kids: finding their actual parents in a game of hide-and-seek."
- "This is a photographer’s dream and a guest’s nightmare for remembering names!"
What makes this special union unique is the closeness among siblings and the magical and "cosmic fate" this has given us at the beginning of the wedding season for Telangana in 2026.
