As vehicle owners were previously often misunderstood regarding the compulsory installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), the Karnataka Transport Department has made several announcements and issued consistent announcements.
There are no waivers in the law for the compulsory installation of the HSRP number plates on any vehicles in Karnataka before April 1, 2019. A discussion had been having within social media and the public in the past few weeks that older cars were exempt from the requirement of HSRP.
Now, officials have confirmed that those false and misleading claims cannot be true. The same is true for all types of vehicles, whatever their exact registration date. HSRP number plates are immutable and specially designed for added security features--such as their laser-etched code and their own chromium-based hologram.
Vehicle thieves who can also control a driver's car free of paying for it to use an HSRP plate will reduce the number plate redundancy and improve the vehicle road control system in general. HSRP, as well, is linked to new technology and new technologies (e.g., ANPR), enabling law enforcement to better follow and handle vehicles. HSRP plates will also be required for all motor vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, the Department reports.
The policy is part of a broader effort to standardise vehicle identification in the state to improve road safety. Owners of vehicles that have not yet installed HSRP plates must do so promptly, to avoid penalty in the case of enforcement drives, officials said. This is where the confusion regarding exemptions for older cars has come in," officials said.
Many car owners, they say, had delayed taking action to come to compliance because a lot of car owners felt that they didn’t comply because they didn’t fit into the rules. The most recent clarity aims to bridge the shortfall: as an outcome, all vehicles will be placed in one category and be judged by the framework.
The department again said that harsher punishment would be imposed on those who broke the rule, once it had run out of time. Fines and penalties can be imposed under the Motor Vehicles Act, as is subject to the Motor Vehicles Act, fines and other relevant penalty compliance fines, fines, and other penalties would then be enforced. Enforcement will be ramped up in inspections over the next few weeks, officials said, to ensure compliance, but enforcement specialists plan to intensify the inspections.
HSRP plates, on the whole, are anticipated to enhance safety along the line of traffic and reduce roadway crime on the road using HSRP plates. It also accelerates transactions for administrative matters such as confirmation of vehicles, toll collection, traffic, etc. Vehicle owners need to try to book appointments through the authorised pathways (or only purchase the plates from the approved vendors) and present them prior to appointments.
Citizens are urged not to consult unofficial information sources, but rather to follow the latest information from the transport department. HSRP rule: Karnataka Transport Department said there are no exceptions to the road-transport rule. Any new and any old car must be equipped with a high-security number plate, and the legal consequences for failing to comply would become paramount.
