A 20-year-old undergraduate student and former YouTuber, Bonu Komali, was found dead in her home in Manikonda on Monday, February 23, 2026. Since her family's death, the tragedy has resonated on social media, largely because of a haunting last text she sent to her mother, a babysitter in Kuwait.
Komali was a first-year B.Sc. student at a private college in Maisammaguda. Known for her lifestyle vlogs and personal stories, her unexpected death has plunged her family into deep mourning.
A Final Goodbye via Text
The incident came to light when Komali’s mother, B. Satya Varalakshmi, received a cryptic and emotional message from her daughter at 1:34 AM on Monday.
The message, written in Telugu, translates to:
"I love you mummy so much. Stay safe. Take good care of my younger brother."
The mother, worried about the tone of the message, tried to contact Komali immediately, only to find that her phone was not working. Frustrated and thousands of miles away in Kuwait, Varalakshmi messaged Komali’s friend, Manasa, and urged her to check the flat at LIG Chitrapuri Colony. When Manasa arrived at the apartment around 3:00 PM, she found the door latched from the inside. She informed neighbors and the Raidurgam police after repeated knocks went unanswered. Officers eventually entered the flat and found Komali hanging from a ceiling fan.
Unrequited Love and a Secret Diary
The police investigation now identifies "love failure" as the main motive. According to Raidurgam Inspector Ch. Venkanna, Komali had been in a one-sided relationship with 27-year-old software engineer Nikhil Reddy for nearly three years.
- Unrequited Feelings: Investigators discovered a diary in which Komali described struggling with unrequited feelings.
- Final Rejection: A day before Komali’s death, the man supposedly met her at her apartment to tell her once again that he was not interested and urged her not to "harass" him further.
- Previous Attempt: Komali’s mother stated that Komali had attempted suicide six months ago due to the same emotional distress, although relatives had counseled her at the time.
Social Media Legacy
Komali was an emerging YouTube star, posting vlogs detailing her experiences and daily life. Ironically, her last viral video showcased her padyatra (walking pilgrimage) to Tirumala a trip she took to fulfill a personal whim. Supporters and followers have since flooded the comments section of her final post with tributes and messages of disbelief. Raidurgam Police reported a case of unnatural death and are now questioning Nikhil Reddy and other close associates to determine if there was any abetment to the suicide.
