Kannada Actress Bindu Arrested for Live-in Partner's Murder in Bengaluru

An unsolved murder and double-crossing has left terror in the Kannada TV and movie industry. On March 2, 2026, Bagalagunte police arrested a small-time actress (known as Bindu or Urmila) for murdering her 45-year-old live-in partner Mohan Krishna (also reported as Mohan Rao).

The offence first came to light March 1 after people in Vijayalakshmi Layout said they had experienced a “nauseating, foul smell” coming from a locked rented house. When the police cracked the door, they found the decomposed body of Krishna, a small-time financier and pigmy collector, sprawled out on the floor.

A Love Triangle Gone Lethal

Preliminary investigations reveal Bindu and Krishna had been cohabiting for months and were posing as a married couple to stay in the same flat together. Both were said to have been separated from their past spouses. But the relationship soured when Bindu became emotionally involved with a truck driver in the same town named Vinay.

The murders, the police say, were pre-planned:

  • Motive: Bindu reportedly told Krishna she would marry Vinay, something Krishna was “strongly opposed” to, resulting in frequent violent clashes.
  • The Execution: The three of them Bindu, Vinay and Dhanush Gowda hosted an alcohol party with Krishna at the house on February 18, 2026.
  • The Accusation: A fight broke out in a drunken state from these same people. Vinay is thought to have stabbed Krishna with a knife many times over.

The accused gagged him and suffocated him until he could stop breathing to silence his screams using cello tape and plastic covers. They then locked the house, went into hiding, hoping the body stayed undetected long enough for them to escape.

Who is Actress Bindu?

Bindu also played minor supporting roles in several films under Kannada, including Bhajarangi, Police Quarters and Kalabhairava. She was an actress who was a familiar face in the TV serial circuit and a companion for directors. During questioning, she was reported to be an LLB graduate, a fact the police are verifying at present.

Legal Action

All three suspects Bindu, Vinay and Dhanush have been booked under Section 103 (Murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). After being identified, cellphone location data and call records were used to track them. “The act, then locking the body inside and letting it rot, showed utter lack of remorse,” an investigating officer said. The police have already set up forensic assessments of the crime scene and are piecing together the victim’s final hours in an effort to make an effort toward a watertight case against the trio.
