Serious allegations have surfaced against a police officer in Mangaluru, where several women have accused a police inspector of harassment, intimidation, and abuse of power. The complaints have been filed against Sandesh P.G., an inspector posted in Moodbidri, in Karnataka.
According to the complainants, the officer allegedly misused his authority to threaten and harass civilians, particularly women. The victims have now escalated the issue to senior authorities, including the Karnataka Police leadership.
Allegations of Abuse of Power
The women claim that the inspector would allegedly intimidate people by threatening to register them as “rowdy sheeters” if they refused to comply with his demands. Some victims have also alleged that he used his position to harass families by arresting husbands and then pressuring their wives.
In their complaints, the women stated that the officer allegedly demanded money and used threats to force compliance. There are also claims circulating that large sums of money were paid for his posting, though these allegations have not yet been officially verified.
Sexual Harassment Allegations
Multiple women have accused the inspector of inappropriate behavior and harassment. One complainant alleged that the officer repeatedly pressured her for sexual favors and continued to harass her despite her refusal.
Some women also claimed that the officer visited their homes without permission and behaved inappropriately, creating an atmosphere of fear in the locality.
Complaints to Senior Authorities
Three women have reportedly submitted a formal complaint to the G. Parameshwara, the Home Minister of Karnataka, as well as to the state’s Director General of Police. The victims also claim that they previously approached Sudheer Kumar Reddy, the Police Commissioner of Mangaluru, but alleged that no action was taken.
Frustrated by the lack of response, the complainants traveled from Mangaluru to Bengaluru to personally submit their complaints to higher authorities.
Investigation Likely
The women have demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations and strict action against the officer if the accusations are proven true. The complaints include detailed accounts of harassment and intimidation faced by the victims.
As of now, authorities have not issued a detailed official statement regarding the case, but sources indicate that the matter may soon be investigated by senior police officials.
