Several parts of Karnataka are expected to witness active weather conditions over the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall. The department has issued a yellow alert for 10 districts, warning residents to remain cautious amid possible lightning, gusty winds, and moderate rain.
According to the latest forecast, Bengaluru is likely to experience cloudy skies with chances of light to moderate rainfall. The city has already been witnessing overcast conditions, and intermittent showers are expected to continue, bringing some relief from rising temperatures.
The districts placed under yellow alert include Kalaburagi, Dharwad, Gadag, Shivamogga, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, and Chamarajanagar. These regions are expected to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning activity.
In coastal Karnataka, particularly in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, rainfall activity is expected to intensify, with cloudy skies dominating the region. Meanwhile, in north interior districts such as Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Raichur, and Kalaburagi, thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely to occur.
South interior Karnataka is also set to witness significant weather activity. Districts including Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Mandya, Shivamogga, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, and Kolar are expected to receive rainfall accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h. These gusty conditions may lead to minor disruptions, including falling branches, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and traffic slowdowns.
Despite widespread rainfall activity in many regions, some parts of the state are likely to experience dry weather conditions. However, the overall weather pattern suggests increased moisture and instability in the atmosphere, which is contributing to the formation of thunderclouds across the state.
The India Meteorological Department has advised residents in the affected districts to stay alert, especially during thunderstorms. People are urged to avoid open areas during lightning strikes, secure loose outdoor objects, and follow local advisories issued by authorities.
The yellow alert indicates the possibility of weather conditions that could cause minor disruptions but are not expected to be severe. Nevertheless, with changing weather patterns and localized heavy showers, authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
As Karnataka transitions through this period of unstable weather, residents can expect a mix of cloudy skies, rainfall, and occasional sunshine in the coming days.
