Drivers are advised to be cautious while travelling through the affected zone, local authorities said. Water levels were monitored to keep an eye on water levels and stranded vehicles were monitored and no longer to go out to stranded vehicles

The southwest monsoon is also in motion and has brought widespread rainfall that has led to transportation, daily life and agricultural activities in a number of regions.

In addition to highway flooding, heavy rains have led to waterlogging of residential areas, overflowing streams and rising river levels in parts of Kozhikode district. Disaster management authorities are keeping an eye on the most vulnerable places and local bodies have initiated drainage clearance wherever possible.
Kozhikode-Mysore National Highway is one of the most important transport corridors connecting Kerala's Malabar region to Karnataka.
Any disruption along this route hinders passenger movement, tourism and the transport of goods between the two states. Food and essential goods were also delayed by the slow traffic movement.
In the past, residents have called for better drainage on flood-prone areas of the road and say waterlogging is an ongoing problem every monsoon season. Long-term engineering solutions are needed to avoid recurring disruption, they say.

The residents of Wayanad, Mysuru and Kozhikode are advised to take into account road conditions before they drive and follow traffic advisories.
The monsoon is expected to continue in the coming days and so the public should continue to be conscious of the situation and be prepared to cooperate with emergency services to keep safe in case they are put in a state of emergency.
