Amid these menacing events, one of the boys has one of the few weapons, probably an improvised gun with no clue what's around the corner. A moment later their bike crashes into a parked truck at the roadside.

This was deadly, killing three people immediately. And safety standards on the roads especially in young riders' hands have been a focus of mass concern. But authorities and policy experts at all scales have advocated long for wearing helmets, obeying traffic laws, and stepping away from dangerous stunts on public streets. Such cases are tragically examples that what a single moment's rush of courage or act careless will in such short succession, turns itself into deadly folly. That a weapon was also used in the act also raises questions about law and order and access to illegal firearms.

Although details about exactly what led to the crash remain opaque, the images serve as a jarring reminder that risk of multiple layers speeding, negligence and careless behavior come together to produce grim outcomes.

This further complicates the issue of driving heavy vehicles on the pavements and on the side of roads without warning. Safe riding may indeed explain it, but better traffic or road visibility might bring some road accidents down a grade.

The tragic death of three young lives is only an eventual wakeup call. All traffic safety is everybody’s job. A simple question of awareness and rules of safety combined with discipline is the difference between life and death.
