The drama unfolded in the Kurar Village locality of Malad East. Acting on a tip-off from vigilant locals who heard the agonizing cries of the animal, members of the PAL Foundation rushed to the spot along with personnel from the Mumbai Police.
The viral footage captures a tense standoff at a local public convenience. The accused, identified as a 20-year-old local resident, had locked himself inside a toilet cubicle with the defenseless pup. When he initially refused to open the door, suspicion mounted among the gathered activists and officers. Eventually, the police were forced to break into the premises.
The scene inside was described by witnesses as "nauseating and beyond belief." The man was found in a semi-clothed state, and the tiny puppy was discovered shivering in a corner, showing signs of severe physical trauma and sexual abuse.
