Nagpur was rocked by a violent incident on Tuesday when a former tenant entered his ex-landlord's house armed with a sword and knife and killed a woman and injured a couple, according to locals.
One woman and a couple of men were injured in Amar Nagar which is part of the MIDC Police Station and has sent shock waves across the locality.
The deceased was Sangeeta Raju Chaudhary (40) who police believe was an innocent bystander and did not have any role in the dispute which led to the attack. The two victims Dharmapal Sudam Dahat and his wife Vanita Dahat were admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are now recovering.
According to the police, Roshan Nilkanth Taral had been a tenant at the Dahat family’s house for a few months around a year ago. There had been frequent disagreements between the tenant and the landlords, the police said, of loud music and other disturbances that were causing trouble.
The investigator said that the accused was still angry about these disputes.

According to police, the accused arrived at the Dahat residence at 9 a.m. on Tuesday carrying a sword and a knife. He quickly attacked Dharmapal Dahat with the sword. Dharmapal suffered serious injuries to his fingers when he tried to shield himself.
The accused then turned his attention to Vanita Dahat, attacking her with a knife and causing serious injuries. Sangeeta Chaudhary, who came to the home as a guest, stepped out of the kitchen after hearing the commotion, he said.
According to investigators, the accused also attacked Sangeeta with the sword and inflicted a fatal neck injury. People who were on the scene at the time said they could not find any links to the prior disputes and she appeared to have been a victim of the violent attack.
Following the attack the accused did not attempt to flee the scene. He remained inside the house and sat on a sofa. Alert local residents quickly shut the house from the outside and prevented him from escaping until the police arrived.
MIDC police officers arrived at the scene shortly after getting the information about the incident. They broke open the locked door, took the accused into custody and formally arrested him.
Police have filed a case of murder and attempt to murder against Roshan Nilkanth Taral. The investigation is ongoing to locate the full sequence of events and get more evidence on the attack.
The violence once more underscores the dangers of unresolved personal disputes turning into violent crimes.
The investigation will be thorough and there will be legal action, and everything will be done. Residents are shocked at the loss of life of an innocent guest and that of two others who are still in the hospital.
