A controversy erupted in Maharashtra in the wake of the alleged video showing state minister and NCP leader Narhari Zirwal with a transgender individual appearing on Facebook being quickly turned out to be fake as media reported it. Opposition parties has been sounding alarm against these two, with the Maha Vikas Aghadi demanding resignation of Narhari Zirwal.
According to reports, in the video allegedly Zirwal was in his official bungalow and there has been intense opposition and opposition to some of the unethical behaviour of individuals in the public office to the video. Though the veracity of the video has not been fully confirmed, there have been reports in state media and many have held doubts to the truth of being the actual home where Zirwal lived (in his official bungalow).
One such controversy has since been caused by Zirwal’s bribe. A group of people took some of him on board earlier to claim that he was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) accepting bribe of ₹35,000 which was then an alarm. After it happened, sources said he spoke with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and also narrated the truth.
Zirwal (66) is a four-time MLA from Dindori in Nashik district and has also served as the former Deputy Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He is also very close friend of late NCP leader Ajit Pawar.
A bigger political and wider political debate was also happening at Maharashtra Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal called that incident a manifestation of moral decline in state politics. The Chief Minister should quickly respond by ordering Zirwal to resign from the position of Member of Cabinet, he said.
Meanwhile, Pawan Yadav was identified as a person depicted in the video. Pawan’s brother and legal attorney told us that he lured people and recorded compromising videos so that he can blackmail them, which is likely to make investigating him so much more difficult.
Meanwhile as the video circulated on social media, pressure is growing on the state government to take a decisive action. But nothing came from Zirwal from the viral video about it as far as it’s still circulating. They will review the facts of the video and whether anything criminal is possible against it.
