A tragic incident was reported from Ramanagara district in Karnataka where a 19-year-old pregnant woman allegedly died by suicide following a family dispute. The incident took place in Vaddarahalli village of Ramanagara taluk, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Nayana (19), who was around five months pregnant at the time of the incident. According to preliminary information, Nayana had married about one and a half years ago.
Family Dispute Reportedly Led to Tragedy
Police sources said that Nayana had reportedly been involved in frequent arguments with her mother-in-law in recent days. The disputes allegedly escalated into repeated conflicts within the household, which left the young woman emotionally distressed.
On the night of the incident, Nayana is believed to have poured diesel on herself and set herself on fire, leading to severe burn injuries. She later succumbed to the injuries.
Police Investigation Underway
Officials from the Ramanagara Rural Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and conducted an inspection. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police have also taken Nayana’s husband Nagaraju and father-in-law Jayarama into custody for questioning as part of the investigation. Authorities are examining whether domestic disputes or harassment played a role in the tragic incident.
Case Registered
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Police officials said statements from family members and neighbors will be recorded to establish the circumstances that led to the woman’s death.
The incident has shocked residents of the village and highlights ongoing concerns about domestic conflicts and mental distress among young married women.
