A fatal road accident in Muthunaickpatti was noticed after CCTV was released on the Internet (March 28, 2026) on the Internet. It had killed a goat herder near Insuvai Unavagam.
According to CCTV images, a private bus moving at a higher speed across a narrow stretch of road suddenly stopped after a group of goats crossed it in the headlights as they were on the road. A stop that wasn't very sudden gave rise to a road which ended up being blocked as well.
Another government-operated bus in the opposite direction did not make it in time. You can see the bus running over a goat herder who is known to take care of animals from the roadside.

The narrowness of the road and the sudden appearance of livestock likely causes the accident. One of the witness accounts suggests that the herder probably did not hear that the fast-moving vehicle was approaching in order to help calm the goats just behind.
It was reported immediately to police, and then police personnel were on the way to investigate. The body has been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact circumstances and whether any drivers took the wrong approach.
The incident has raised awareness about road safety in rural and semi-urban areas where livestock cross roads and are sometimes also moved down the highways from town to town. Safety will need to be better managed with traffic controlled over the driving lane within automobiles even where highways are busy to be the only lane moving to traffic and where there is no congestion so as not even to hurt people because of vehicles crossing.
On board also, this region is asking for more safety measures and more signage (and speed control) such that they can prevent more accidents next time around.
Details regarding the victim and actions against those involved to be taken are still to be ascertained by the investigator.
