Security forces deployed at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple noticed a young man engaging in religious activities against temple protocols on the afternoon of January 10, police said. According to eyewitnesses and security figures, the man began offering namaz in the southern perikota (outer wall/parapet) area of the temple complex.
Then, the man began chanting slogans after the security personnel came to impede him, and there was reported short-term tension in the premises. Security forces rushed in and took the man into custody immediately to protect the people from any threat on either side to a breach of law and order.
Agencies Acting on High Alert of Intelligence
Senior officials from the Uttar Pradesh Police and the central intelligence apparatus arrived at the scene after arresting the suspect. He’s currently being questioned at an unidentified location to determine his identity, background and motives. These are a deliberate effort to stoke communal tensions or a random incident being investigated by authorities. Even though the temple trust and the local government are not expressing their feelings to an alarming extent, reports have seen the security perimeter reassessed to deter future incursions.
Background: Increased Security in Ayodhya
The tragedy occurs as a vast security blanket was drawn on Ayodhya after the second remembrance of the Pran Pratishtha and subsequent national flag-raising with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It already has a layered security setup, with sophisticated surveillance, A.I.-enabled cameras and thousands of SSF (Special Security Force) and CRPF personnel in the town. On the previous days, the Ayodhya regime had banned the presentation of non-vegetarian food within a 15-km radius of the temple, illustrating how sensitive the area is.
Public Response and Currently Status
While the line of Darshan devotees was still virtually intact after the incident, the frisking and checking at the entries have greatly increased. Local Hindu organisations have expressed alarm at the “security lapse” of the case and insisted that an extensive inquiry should be carried out into how the perpetrator was able to get the religious activity inside the core temple zone going. The police have cautioned the public to beware of rumors on social media; they have said that sanctity of the temple still exists.
