The deceased was Ramachandra Rao, a resident of Tattekodlu. Initial information was that the incident took place in the early hours of Monday, and authorities estimated that it happened at about 1:30 am.

Police officials who came to the area immediately began to probe and take a first look at the scene. The officer said a firearm was recovered from the scene, and investigators are now investigating all aspects of the case to determine the sequence of events.

Ramachandra Rao had suffered a head injury after a fall a few days ago. He had been treated at a nearby hospital after the accident, family members and villagers said, but he was still in extreme pain and discomfort in the days before the incident.

The elderly man’s health problems and recent health issues may have been a factor in the tragedy, investigators said. Nonetheless, police have said no conclusion has been drawn, and the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities are also checking whether the firearm found at the scene was legally licensed. They are reviewing ownership records and other documents to conduct the investigation. Forensic evidence and testimony from family members, neighbours, and other witnesses are among the evidence authorities are looking at; the police also want to determine what happened and are looking into the reason why the death occurred.

The nature of the injuries made the case particularly sensitive, said sources, and forensic experts may be consulted. A post-mortem examination will be done to see if there is a cause of death.

We are also looking at all the possible causes, and it would be premature to make a guess now that we know what happened, officials said.

The case has been registered at Hosanagara Police Station, and a formal investigation is ongoing. Senior officers are monitoring the situation, and more details are expected to emerge by way of forensic reports and witness accounts.

Neighbourhood residents of Tattekodlu village have been shocked by the incident, as Ramachandra Rao was well known among local people. Many villagers wept over the tragic loss and gathered around the residence after news of the incident spread to the village.

Police are warning people not to believe in rumours, but to wait for the results of the investigation. The investigation will be closed when authorities have completed their inquiry and report back to the public.
