Six people were killed and another 20 were injured in a deadly multi-vehicle traffic accident on the Mumbai-Agra Highway on Monday, not far from Laling Ghat, Dhule.
The fatal crash was reported to have been between a sand-laden dumper truck travelling on the wrong side of the highway and a container truck heading towards Dhule. Police said the vehicle was travelling along a heavily trafficked road through the hilly Laling Ghat highway.
The initial investigation found that the sand-filled dumper truck was heading in the wrong direction as it collided with the container truck on the other side and violated traffic rules. It set off an incredibly brutal chain reaction of multiple vehicles throughout the full length of the highway.
This accident involved damaged vehicles, and people who were inside had reportedly been critically injured from the shock of the crash. Following the crash, the community, law enforcement, and emergency services arrived.

Rescue workers moved to extract trapped passengers from the mangled vehicles. It was a larger collision than many in the category. Some members discovered themselves critically wounded, and they weren't able to pull anyone back again. Officials said six people died in the crash, while more than 20 others were injured in various degrees of condition.
The accident victims were transported to hospitals in Dhule and were medically treated. Many of the injured are reportedly in extremely serious condition. Traffic jams on the Mumbai-Agra Highway were a result of this incident, though rescues. The police diverted traffic by clearing the roads and removing wrecked cars from the roads in an effort to move them as soon as possible.
They will look at the particular acts of the drivers, but it is clear that the driver of the dumper truck was not doing what was proper or at least, they behaved recklessly. Officials are also trying to determine if speeding or brake failure caused the accident.
The Laling Ghat stretch is really a high traffic, dangerous turns area where accidents seem likely when drivers do not follow safety rules. The residents have also expressed concern about driving hazardous vehicles on the highway, and to which, sadly, they have put this on the record.
Senior officers assisted in rescue efforts for victims at the scene. A case was entered, and further investigation is being done to find who was involved. That terrible accident cast doubt on increasingly dangerous roads and reckless driving habits with heavy vehicles, and even on national roads themselves.
Motorists should abide by the road code and refrain from reckless driving if doing so does not endanger lives and is safe, officials said. Politicians and government employees offered solidarity and condolences to the families of the victims and asked authorities to speed recovery for both the victims and the injured.
