The initial reports indicate that the car travelling from Yadgir to Raichur collided head-on with a private bus from Bengaluru to Kalaburagi. The impact of that collision was immense, causing one whole car suddenly to come to a grinding halt and passengers to be totally helplessly paralysed.

All six occupants of the car died instantly on the spot. Witnesses claimed that the crash was an unimaginable horror, with the huge force of this sudden blast beginning fires in the car right afterwards. The vehicle was quickly engulfed by flames, and rescue efforts remained harder than ever.

Locals rushed to the scene, but not as quickly, as the flames were on the ground, which restricted their ability to do something quickly. The fire department and emergency services were first placed on duty, and personnel joined immediately as soon as possible so that the fire could be contained.

Hours of work put out the fire. But by that point, all six of the victims inside the car had already died from their injuries and burns. The actual names of the dead have not been verified, and officials are trying to notify families. The bodies have been moved for postmortem examination and are currently being operated upon.

The private bus involved in the accident is said to have suffered serious damage at the front end, but there was no indication of any immediate deaths in the crash involving bus riders. The passengers were believed to have sustained minor injuries and were treated medically.

Officials of Surpur Police Station have recorded a case and started work on the situation. Although initial reports indicate that high speeds and possibly negligence may have contributed to the accident, a thorough inquiry into the cause is now underway. All the more so because the risk of road accidents is not to be over-emphasised, with the deadly consequences of the highest speeds being high on highways, particularly when a wrecking ball occurs.

So local people have long advised of this: to avoid such road accidents, authorities have long been insistent, again and again, that it is as vital and dangerous to obey traffic laws as it is to be a good steward of the vehicle while driving it along their path. Local officials have been sympathetic to the families of the victims, and everybody’s traffic should be treated with the same respect, with drivers driving under warning in service of it.

Traffic law enforcement will also take greater strides to improve road safety in accident-prone areas. In this respect, investigation into cases must surely have long been the main event of proceedings. Thus, the tragic accident's essential facts shall be disclosed as a matter of course. Only one accident, like this, can not only illustrate the real danger of death on the roads, but it should also prompt authorities and the public to draw up fresh guidelines on traffic safety policy and law enforcement.
