A shocking case has emerged from Lucknow, where social media influencer Mansi was found dead at her in‑laws’ residence. Her family has alleged that she was killed by her husband Sagar Rajput and his relatives over dowry demands, before her body was hanged to make it appear as suicide.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by police, Mansi, a resident of Kanpur, married Rajput in 2024. Both were active on social media, with Rajput boasting nearly 8 lakh Instagram followers. Despite their public image, Mansi’s family claims she faced constant harassment over dowry.
Her family stated that during the marriage, they had given ₹7 lakh in cash along with several household items as “gifts.” However, Rajput’s family allegedly remained dissatisfied, demanding a car. The family believes this pressure escalated into harassment, ultimately leading to Mansi’s death.
The incident has sparked outrage, drawing attention to the persistent issue of dowry harassment in India. Despite strict laws against dowry under the Dowry Prohibition Act, cases continue to surface, highlighting the gap between legislation and enforcement. Mansi’s death underscores the vulnerability of women, even those with public visibility and influence, to entrenched social practices.
Police investigations are underway, with the FIR naming Rajput and his family members as accused. Authorities are expected to probe the circumstances of Mansi’s death, including forensic examinations to determine whether it was staged as suicide.
The case has also ignited discussions on social media, where followers expressed shock and demanded justice. Many pointed out the irony of Rajput’s online popularity contrasted with the allegations of abuse behind closed doors.
Mansi’s tragic death serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by dowry demands and the urgent need for stronger societal and legal measures to protect women. As the investigation progresses, her family and supporters continue to call for accountability and justice.
