Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay visited the famous Kollur Mookambika Temple in Karnataka’s Udupi district, where he offered a silver sword to Goddess Mookambika and sought her blessings. Many people had gathered in large numbers to see the popular leader.
The spiritual visit comes at a time when Vijay is still being followed in the media as a politician and Chief Minister, and one of South India's most popular film stars. His arrival at the historic temple was met with cheers from devotees and supporters lining up outside the temple doors.
During his visit, Vijay presented a silver sword to the presiding goddess, Goddess Mookambika, as a sign of respect. The offering has symbolic significance as swords are traditionally associated with the goddess and are often offered by devotees seeking blessings and protection.
Vijay was also shown the famous golden sword, which had been donated to the temple decades back by the famous actor and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran (MGR). Vijay took his time to look at the historical offering made by the legendary leader when he was a temple visitor some years back. Two of Tamil Nadu’s most influential political figures were linked, and people from different sides of society were talking about it.
Vijay, despite the importance of the visit, did not perform any special rituals or make any specific religious vows, but just said prayers, folded his hands before the deity, and went inside the temple to seek the divine blessing.
Vijay remained inside the temple for about 30 minutes, temple officials said, and during this time he participated in regular worship and had a brief conversation with temple officers. The visit was made under tight security arrangements due to the large number of supporters and curious onlookers who had gathered at the temple.
After darshan of Goddess Mookambika, Vijay stepped out of the temple and acknowledged the crowd outside. Fans who had travelled from different parts of Karnataka and neighbouring Tamil Nadu cheered enthusiastically as he emerged from the temple complex.
Vijay walked off to the side of the temple entrance and waved to his supporters before he left. Videos and photographs of the moment circulated quickly on social media platforms, and the Chief Minister’s humility and devotion were hailed by his supporters.
Kollur Mookambika Temple is one of South India's most venerated pilgrimage centres and draws thousands of devotees every year. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Mookambika, and people from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and other parts of the country have many prominent political leaders, film personalities, and business figures who visit it over time.
Vijay’s temple visit has generated widespread discussion among his political supporters and cinema fans. Many saw the silver sword as a sign of his faith and respect for longstanding cultural traditions.
As the pictures of the visit continue to spread online, the occasion has once again been seen to show Vijay’s ability to draw attention anywhere he goes. Whether as a movie star or Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, his actions have long been the talk of the town.
The visit to Kollur Mookambika Temple, with its devotion, simplicity, and public excitement, is certain to be remembered by both the temple worshipers and Vijay’s admirers as well.
